CHAPTER 12

Sky and Mink were dressed in basic camouflage fatigues with their hair tucked under black rolled up ski masks that sat in position on top of their heads, ready to be pulled down over their faces. Nicki Minaj blasted from the jeep's sound system as they made their way out to 703 Lori Lane in Doraville.

"Over there on the right," Mink called out as they almost passed the Victorian lakeside home that sat back off of the street, nestled in between a cluster of big oak trees.

"Honey we're home," Sky said playfully as they brought the car to a halt out on the main street where it was nothing but pitch black darkness and no sign of life.

The neighboring houses sat at least a quarter mile from each other on the tree-filled acres of land. This time of night most of the retirees that flooded this part of the city were more than likely in bed, fast asleep.

"Lets do this shit," Mink called out as they pulled down their ski masks, readied their weapons and exited the car.

As they crept up the driveway they heard a dog barking in the distance.

"Shit! I hope that ain't their dog," Sky said softly as they continued up the long winding driveway.

"That barking is coming from over there," Mink said, pointing to the old boathouse on the lake front.

"Hold up…listen," Sky said stopping in her tracks.

Someone was sitting outside on the front porch talking on the phone. Whomever it was wasn't speaking English and the girls couldn't make out a word they were saying.

"At least we know we are in the right spot, do you hear her?" Mink asked Sky as they ducked behind a big oak that sat a few feet from the house.

"I wonder how many people are in there? I'm figuring that's the daughter. This is what we're going to do, we're going to get her and make her lead us through the house," Sky said, just as the girl on the porch stood and started back in the house.

"She's about to go back in let's go!" Mink called out louder than she meant to but it worked to their advantage because the girl paused in the doorway.

"Someone there? Bertilda did you get off your chain?" Carina called out as she looked out into the darkness for the family pet.

Mink and Sky moved as fast as their feet could take them. Before Carina could step back into the house, they had their guns in her face and their finger in front of their mouths, demanding her to be silent. Carina cooperated shakily as the girls ushered her at gunpoint into the house.
